Books on my to-read list...

Hi! I was searching for good books to read last night. Its very difficult to sift for books with good potential in this age of self-publication. Some really bad experiences have made me extra cautious. After my last night of exploration I discovered some books that seem to be really good:
Where'd you go, Bernadette
Fearsome Dreamer

84, charing cross road
The knife of never letting go
Throne of glass
I have started with Throne of glass and I am enjoying the book so far but many a books have gone awry at the end lets see how this one fares.

                                                           Yours sincerely,

The Nearly-Weds by Jane Costello

Let me begin by writing that I do not enjoy giving books a bad review and I do not like leaving them half way through either. But that's what I had to do with The Nearly-weds by Jane Costello. This is the first book I have tried by Jane and I am sure there will not be a second. When I found this book I was immediately interested and I really liked the cover (even though I know better than to judge a book by its cover). The blurb was misleading instead of fun interesting read I got a bland and totally predictable one. I know authors can not do much unpredictable where romance novels are concerned but they sure can make it interesting. And many of them do like SEP but such was not the case with the nearly-weds. Despite trying I could not invest my self in the characters though I really liked the children. It was not that the Ryan and Zoe were not interesting its just their story was not that interesting. It did not have something special.
I do not have any issue with the writing, it was the plot that needed more work. The only scene I enjoyed was when Ryan had to take Zoe to the party where she ends up drunk and almost naked.
This is not one of the books I would recommend to anyone when they are much better books available.
                                                                   Yours sincerely,
                                                                           Ashi.

Match me if you can by Susan Elizabeth Philips

Blurb: Annabelle is the black sheep in her family where everyone is a high achiever. She does not have a five year plan or any plan at all. After a few detours she finally decides to take over her grand mothers matchmaking business. Fortunately, her friend gets her an appointment with  a ruthless sports agent Heath Champion, aka the Python, who is in the market for a wife. Heath has no time for the impish matchmaker but her determination and her client Gina move him enough to give her a chance. She is also the only one who could get him closer to Phoebe, who was making his professional life a hell.  But no one is as surprised as Heath when he finds himself attracted to Annabelle.  But both of them want to keep it strictly professional. Will Annabelle be able to find his soul mate without losing her heart to the Python?

Three years ago when I read a blurb for Match me if you can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips I never thought I'd be hooked for life.
Although I have read many books by Susan it was her Match me if you can that manged to stay with me over the years. This book is an amusing tale of opposites attract, where a ruthless business finds himself attracted to one women he should not be attracted to. His naive matchmaker. The chemistry sizzles as Heath and Annabelle try to get what they want without really giving into their needs.
I absolutely adore Annabelle and Heath they are one of my favourite protagonists. Usually Susans heroins tend to have more depth this time the hero's character that charmed me more than anything. Susan mange's to keep the story flowing at all times with many sub plots. As usual she inspired and made me laugh simultaneously. I hope you cherish Match me if you can as much as I did.
                                               Yours sincerely,
                                                       Ashi

One for the money by Janet Evanovich

I was looking for a fun read on goodreads.com when I found One for the money by Janet Evanovich.  This book is the first in well known series of Stephanie Plum. Stephanie plum is out of job and almost out of money when suddenly she finds her self hunting the guy who had exploited her twice in past. Stephanie will now do anything for the 10, 000 she'll get for catching Joe Morrelli. Its nothing personal just business....well almost.  After all he had look up her skirt when she was six with a promise of a game of train and tunnel... This book is fun and light exactly what I needed after a stressful week.  I absolutely adore the characters, Stephanie is feminine but stubborn and determined while  Joe Morelli is endearingly annoying and Grandma Mazur simply rocks. Chemistry is good and Janet nicely balances comedy and mystery. I will soon start Two for the dough(the second book in Stephanie Plum series).   Recommended to those needing a break from the high tide of Young Adult fiction.

I really enjoy books that make me laugh out loud therefore I have decided to start my blog with the one that made me laugh the most. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
